Kolby's Story
I am a stay at home mom of four boys. Ryan (2002), twins Logan and Blake (2005) and Ethan (2009). Kraig and I made the final decision and little man Ethan will be our last child. I have been married since August 25, 2001 to Kraig. He works long hard hours so I can stay home with the kids. I am currently attending The University of Phoenix so can get my Associates Degree in Medical Billing. Hopefully when I graduate in November 2010, I can get a good job and then Kraig and I can look for a house that is ours! We have two dogs: my black lab, Princess Zowie and Bear-he is one of Zowie's puppies. We also have a ball python that is about 4 ft in length.
After I graduated in 1995, I went to work at Limited Brands from June 1995-July 2003 when we decided to move to Port Charlotte Florida. I gave up alot of money, vactation time, personal time and seniority to move to Florida to work as a housekeeper at The Days Inn for a measly $5.15 an hour. I then decided to work at Walmart for $8 an hour, but it was better than being a housekeeper. We stayed for 6 months. I was homesick but the funny thing is that my parents were with me. ed back to Newark and I started working at The Arc of Licking County with the mentally handicapped. I would take them on outings, like to the movies or bowling. I only made $7.75 an hour but it was one of the most rewarding jobs I have had. If it wasn't for me, many of them would not get to do fun things. I had to quit when I found out I was pregnant with my twins. The job was too physically demanding (loading and unloading people in wheelchairs). Some days I regret moving to Florida, but if I hadn't I would still be stuck at a dead end job (The Limited) and a job that I hated to go to everyday. I used to buy whatever I wanted because we had the money to do that. I have realized that I would rather be home with my kids and not have fancy things then going to a job where I was unhappy everyday. Thanks to my husband I have that opportunity. I know in a little over a year I will have my degree and I will need to venture back into the work force, but I had the opportunity to stay home with my kids. I am looking forward to working again, have adult friends and adult conversations. For now, I am enjoying my time as a stay at home mom.
