Krista's Story

Life When I graduated from high school, I went to SFSU and obtained a BA in Broadcasting. I spent the next 11 years building a substantial following with my own morning show. I've worked in Memphis,TN. Greensboro,N.C. Little Rock,AR. Vincennes, IN. Burlington, IA. Springfield, IL. and Boise, ID. mostly as News Director and Mornings. I had full access to celebrities and groups from N-Sync, Destiny's Child, Bare Naked Ladies to football and baseball greats during celebrity tournements. I even met Stone Cold Steve Austin and Triple H, when they were popular. Richard Simmons was hysterical, I worked out with him in New Orleans. My job was to interview the stars, make sure they had what they needed and set-up the backstage meet and greets. I built up my music collection for free and had all the perks of a top-rated show. Freebies rock! You get used to being recognized and signing autographs and then you realize you need to make a change. You are no more important than anyone else and that's the reality. Most DJ's even in the club business, which I have also been successful in as a VIP promotor and "Party-Girl", are not that good-looking but the access gets them noticed. Most of the guys are drunks or cheat on their wives and/or girlfriends and live for the next big thing. That's why when you listen to the radio, you always hear different personalities. They never tell you where we went or why we left. Thinking radio was still for me, (Ricky Dunn was also in radio when I caught up with him at Morning Show Boot Camp in New Orleans), I decided to move here to Boise, ID. to be closer to my family in CA. and was last heard on KISS-FM. Although my best friend Donna swears she still hears my commercials and promos in Illinois and I am still referred to as Krista from Dave, Kevin and Krista. Radio is tough and pays the bills quite well when you're on top. The business is brutal so I got out for now...you're never really out. I now work as a Customer Relations Manager for CITI. Look at your credit cards, they own almost all of them. I haved been engaged twice. Thank goodness I had the sense to say no. Still single, and dating here and there (it's a town of young college kids, so fun but nothing substantial) and no children..yet. I've been busy trying to figure out where I want to settle and if I should continue the 3 years with Citi or go back into the radio biz. Family says Arizona or Cali, just come back home. I have cats and if any of you knew me you would guess they are all named after adult beverages. I am a practicing medium and psychic but do not ask for any monetary gain. I've been blessed with the gift but each of us has to learn how best to serve the public. Knowledge is power but what you do with the knowledge can make or break you. Most of my clients agree they ignore more than they listen. What's the point of having a reading or asking what your loved ones want who have passed if you don't take action or comfort from their wisdom. I am a Christian. I believe in God and Jesus. I also believe the greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing people he didn't exist. That's just me. To learn more about psychics and mediums,(without all the voodoo withcraft drama...when you say you're a psychic people always ask one of two questions: Can you give me a reading or Oh, o.k. see you later), read Sylvia Browne,(appears on Montel each Wed. and has at least 20 books),Allison Dubois, (inspiration for the hit NBC show Medium and author of "Don't Kiss Them Goodbye") or John Edward (Crossing Over and author of several books as well). I do not claim to have the exact same gifts as they do, nor do they share the same gifts with each other. We are all beacons. Most of us don't go public, stay low key and don't make or ask for any money. It takes time and each person has a different strength. God Bless America, bring our troops home safely! You are true heroes! P.S. My dear friend Carla has had 7 readings in the last 6 months: skeptic no more. School I've been asked to share so I will. If you have a senoir yearbook from 1990 open it up and look at mine and my best friend at that time Renee. It describes Reid Marquand, who is now married I think. I used to skip class each wednesday to go to his house 10th grade year when he was home from UCSB. Renee and I were friends with Garrett and Stoney, who owed Technotronic and several other clubs in San Diego...After Dark was well known at the time. I did some crazy things in tanning salons and limos. They had so many businesses, even liquor stores. Renee worked on the school yearbook and wrote some secrets in in spanish as a joke/reminder of our wicked ways. Last I knew she was in Vegas. Also, be sure to look at some of the full page entries. One in particular mentions some of the crazy things we used to do at Jason's house after school...Alan in particular. Heard he got married right after graduating. Most people didn't know I was dating at all, which was fine. Reid, Eddie, Brian, Pete, Troy. All graduated and were still hanging out at high school parties. Sad, but they were hot, so what do you do. I don't think people ever really treat others right during those years. I want to say sorry to Becky and Candace. I expectated a lot of you. Why were we fighting? These are things I would change. Other than that, I wish I could get the lockers straight. I rememeber having a huge crush and writing Candace a letter spilling my guts only to have it go into his. Kirk and Aaron passed it around. I called him "white hot" you know, hotter than the red part of the flame. It's funnny though, because when I look back at high school, I see the faces of the people I did not judge. I tried to be a friend to anyone. Didn't matter what click they were in. Eric R. is he a famous artist...Expand for more
or guitar player yet? Regardless, glad it's done. Even the year end graduation trip to Europe was a blast. A lot of haters back then. I hooked up with this really hot Italien guy in Florence who had the most amazing blue eyes. We spoke the universal language if you know what I mean. Then in Nice, I met this amazing European with jet black hair and deep eyes. I had to skip the day trip the next day. He looked like a super model. Europeans are so hot! Heather C. and I used to go to T.J. and wonder the next day how we got back home. They used to shut the trolley down, so sometimes we had to hitch a ride. Thank goodness nothing bad ever happened. I had angels wathcing over me even then. Anything else is a secret that I cannot or will not discuss. If you hung out with me ever, you'll have some secrets of your own. Looking back is fun but it is also meant to teach us what we need to change. College I took off in the fall of 1990 to Humboldt State. I partied way too much at Clam Beach and with the La Crosse team. They had their own house and partied every night. Andre was the reason I had to leave. I mean, I literally packed up my BMW and didn't even take the finals. The whole stalker thing was way too much for my state of mind at the time. I don't blame him fully. Each of us has to own up to our actions. I wasn't very nice to him. About the rest of HSU...I had scheduled classes in the a.m. which anyone who's been a freshman knows that is a sure sign of defeat. The cool thing is I had a lot of interesting experiences with people from all over the world that I never would have had. I was meant to go and learn. Just not in a classroom. I flunked out o.k. let's keep it real. Some classes I didn't even take midterms. I missed my family and I wanted to come home. To be honest, I was the only one in Arcata that wore make-up, had a curling iron and bathed to be precise. But before I left that winter, I came home for Thanksgiving to find a message from Aaron F. He was in 10th grade at Granite. Fell madly in love. First mistake. I was way too much for him and he was way too young for me. I guess the first love is always the most painful. Taking the rest 3 years to forget him...second mistake. To my credit, I live hard and love hard...always have. Went to community college. Reconnected with some people from Granite, worked full-time at my dad's law firm. Decided to get serious and transferred to SFSU. What a life! I made the dean's list each semester, while holding down a full-time job as assistant manager for Victoria's Secret then assistant manager for sister-company Enzo Angiolini. Got recruited to run my own store Precis. Precis sold Steve Madden, Bronk NY etc. I amassed quite the shoe collection. I became part of the club circuit with the help of Jason and worked mainly with Sound Factory and Plastique. Things got messy. They always do when you're around that much excess. Excess of all kinds. We all did things we shouldn't have but it made me a stronger person. I never did live a sheltered life. I was going to open a club with some Russian promoters but that fell thru. I was going to call it "Taboo". Hunter was my best friend and God rest his soul he died of Aids. Victor was my true love. He moved to Mexico. Interned at KFOG and KNBR. The rest is history or so they say. Thank you Don S. from Grossmont Community College, God rest your soul. You helped me realize I had a true gift that could touch others with my voice. Thank you Taylor, for helping me get over Eloy and for the tattoo your husband designed. Lastly, Aaron F. I am truly sorry for the pain I caused you. You always will remain in my heart and soul. You never forget your first true love; even when the dust settles. Workplace First job ever was at a locally owned market off Pepper Drive. I was the cashier. Met a lot of cool people. Second job came when I became part-time receptionist and court runnner for my dad's lawfirm. It was interesting working around brilliant people. Then came the varoius jobs in college, all in the retail management industry. Nordstrom was cool. Made great commission, which was spent on clothes and shoes. Then came 11 years in the radio biz. Always had my own office and phone, access to company car or van and awesome bonuses. But hence the pendulum has to swing back or we wouldn't learn humilty. I went to work for Sears at the call center where I was monitored daily by managers who could not believe my call time and satisfaction rating with customers. I laughed when I found out a year later. I was given the title month after month of top sales associate in our unit, then the 1st thru 4th quarter then for the entire year. Everyone thougt I was cheating. Did they not read my resume? Hello, B.A. in communications, background in radio where I had to sell myself daily for ratings and not to mention this wasn't rocket science. I had to answer the phone, use a computer and sell stuff that was actually beneficial, if you used you credit card. Sears sold the portfolio to Citi and I was at the time a SAR or senior account rep, bestowed on those that had perfomed well for the higher ups. When we moved into our new facility I was promoted to CRT which is the customer realations team. You ask for a manager, you get me. I have all the authority my boss has except a lower paycheck and not all the paperwork. What next? Real estate, radio...who knows? I am constantly asked by friends to do their make-up for huge events and social clubbing. I can make anyone look fabulous. I was aksed when I worked in Memphis to be the district manager for a large company. They were going to spend several thousand dollars on me for schooling and make-up. But I had my heart set on continuing my radio career. Maybe I'll check into that field again.
