Kristen's Story

Hi if you don't remember me (which many of you won't) I am Kristen Bartlett, but back in the KHS days Kristen Strid. Since high school it has been an amazing adventure. It all started by moving to the great northwest, more specificly Seattle and attending Seattle Pacific University, where right away it was a completely different world from high school. Rain, coffee, a christian bubble, independence, and not knowing anyone! I was a part of the SPU gymnastics team (which many of Kingsburg people probably didn't know but, yes I did a sport). I for the first time in my life made many friends from all over the country that understood and shared my passion for gymnastics. I quickly decided that I was going to be a science nerd and major in Biology. Four successful gymnastics seasons later (including one where I was a national champion on uneven bars), I recieved a Bachelors degree in Biology but had no idea what to do with it. What I did know was I was not ready to be done with gymnastics yet. I became an assistant SPU and club coach while awaiting acceptance into a nursing school program. m school I was ready to go back and get a degree that I could actually use, and where else but at SPU again. Not knowing at the time but the next two years were going to be the hardest years of my life. I did however meet some awesome people that I will remain friends with probably for the rest of my life. One more good thing came out of nursing school... I met my husband. His name is Matt and he was working at an emergency room that I was doing my clinicals at and is more recently working as a firefighter. I graduated the second time in 2006, and after 18 years of being involved in gymnastics I stopped coaching and began a nursing career. I shuffled jobs and hospitals and am now settled as an emergency room nurse in a hospital just south of Seattle. I got married in the summer of 2007 and we are in the process of buying a house. (March 2008 it closes!) Our lives are now becoming more and more stable. I can't wait to see all of you at the 10 year reunion which is right around the corner (Does that make us old? Oh well!) Thanks for listening to my crazy life, I can't wait to hear where all of yours voyaged!
