Kristina's Story

Life After high school, I attended Ivy Tech State College. I graduated in December of 1998 with an Associates in Applied Science for Administrative Office Technology. During college, I worked 2-3 part-time jobs. I left all of the jobs by the beginning of March 1999 and started my new full-time job at the end of March. I left this full-time job in July 2003. From 1999-2003, I worked for a benefits broker on the north side of Indy. A couple of months into my job, I purchased my first new car (Chevrolet Cavalier), sold it a year later, then purchased a 2000 Mustang (laser red) which I will get rid of. In November 2002, I found the love of my life. Funny thing is he was right under my nose, and I didn't realize it; we worked together. He is everything I have ever wanted and more. I can't believe how happy he has made me. In February 2004, my boyfriend and I started living together. We are so happy and going on strong. Once we are financially set, he is planning on getting me an engagement ring. I am starting a new position working for Kelly Services. You won't believe where they are contracting me out to...Eli Lilly's. The contract was not permanent. My contract ended with Eli Lilly's March 2005 where I left to work for a local Industrial company, Horner Electric. I worked in the Sales & Marketing department until June 19 when I couldn't take it any longer. My guardian angel must have been playing double duty because the same day I received an offer from ManPower, Inc. to work at their IBM location. I jumped on that and have not regretted the change. I work with individuals all over the US as an Executive Administrative Assistant (remotely of course). This job is permanent as long as my job performance meets expectations. On November 23, 2005, I became the proud co-owner of my new house. Yep, I have a house. My boyfriend and I bought one together. As for the ring, I'm still learning "patience". Please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you and find out how your life has bee...Expand for more
n. I know that one of my high school friends is looking for our other friends too. I hope everyone is well. College College was the best time (school wise) in my life. I learned much about life, new skills, and also had many friends. When I tested to get into Ivy Tech State College, I found out that I had a 9th grade reading level. If I only was taught properly in English classes in high school. Maybe then I wouldn't had so much trouble in high school. Ivy Tech taught me through a remedial class that that there are many ways to read and comprehend what is read. After I went through the remedial class, I took the college level Engligh class and passed with an "A". My degree and means of study was for an Associates in Applied Science degree for Administrative Office Technology. I loved the classes very much. I learned many different software programs and the ideals of an office. Workplace I have had a limited amount of jobs in my life. From June 1992 through February 1999, I worked at Boyden's Bakery as a Sales Clerk and Cashier. While in college, I remained working at Boyden's and also worked from September 1996 through March 1999 in Ivy Tech State College's Admissions & Counseling departments as a Secretary and Back-up Front Desk Clerk. My last semester at Ivy Tech, my classes were very light so while keeping my jobs at Boyden's and Ivy Tech, I also worked as a File Clerk at Lee Supply Corporation. After I graduated college, I started looking for full-time employment. I found employment at Gardner & White Corporation where I worked from March 1999 through July 2003. I terminated my employment at Gardner & White Corporation due to management changes and job duty requirement changes. I was using Unemployment benefits while searching for a new job from August 2003 through October 2003. I temporarily went back to Lee Supply Corporation to obtain and refresh my office skills. I am starting new employment at Eli Lilly working for Kelly Services. My dream is to be hired by Eli Lilly.
