Kristine's Story
Life
My life is definitely not what people would have expected of me. I was captain of the softball team, made the all-city and the all-borough softball teams, swore to being the first woman baseball player, I wanted to go to college and be something, make a difference. i wanted to get married have lots of children and have a big house in Florida. Stranger things in life have happened, but I believe that everything happens for a reason. My life was perfect until September 11, 2001 when my husband was killed in the WTC attack, I was left a widow at 27 with a 1 year old daughter to take care of and not a clue how to be a single stay at home mom, and a widow all at once. How we all take life for granted. This is definitely not how I wanted my life to be.
Update: December 2007
I have been back and forth from New York to Florida several times, i can't figure out where i hate it the most (lol) ...Expand for more
and I won't stop until I find the place where I am supposed to be. My daughter Sydney is now 7 1/2 and my daughter Heather is now 4 1/2. We are living in Wantagh Long Island for the moment. Life is hard...who's isn't? But the challenges I face are great. I just stay strong and hope that things get easier. i doubt though, that anyone from High School would recognize me. I am not the same person I was. The confused, quiet, shy softball player has become very outspoken, strong, determined and independent. Life left me no choice but to grow up really fast and to change who I was. But that is life. Still, though, this is not where I expected my life to be. What do I expect? Right about now, I hope for the best, strive to achieve it, but expect downfalls and never underestimate or take anyone for granted. I live my life day to day. Do we expect anything more than that? Hope to hear from everyone.
