Kurt's Story
So for the last year or two I have been thinking about retiring. No surprise, I'll have forty-three years in at Mayo in December. I've enjoyed what I have been doing, but have wanted a little more free time up at the cabin. Always projects to work on and I love the peace and quiet. Plus my sister lives nearby.
However, about a month ago my friends in the Mayo Medical Library gave me the heads-up that a position would soon be available that they thought I would be perfect for. I applied and now work in the Patient/Visitor Library at Methodist Hospital. I started in July and am loving it. I am still working with o...Expand for more
ur patients, helping to make their stay more pleasant, but now I enjoy a much more peaceful work environment. I have always loved books, so being surrounded by them is very satisfying. Of course, having accepted this position I feel honor bound to stick around a few years. But you know what they say: "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life." I'm not working, I'm "home"!
So, if you ever find yourself in the Methodist Hospital, or visiting someone there, feel free to stop by. I may not (probably not, sorry) recognize you, but I will be happy to chat with you and catch up.
All the best,
Kurt
