Kurt's Story
Went on to graduate from UC Berkeley in 1964; ROTC there led to a 20-year Army career (totally unplanned, but glad to have done it) in Air Defense and Research & Development. Had assignments in Germany, Viet Nam, Belgium, and many places in the US. Worked another 17 years at various aerospace companies, ending up with Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, CA. one son (his and hers). While in the Army, earned a Ph.D. in mech. eng. from Univ. of Neb. Every year of retirement has been a joy seeing family grow and traveling when we can (e.g., in '04, walked the 500-mile Camino in Spain and four more times since then, in '08 traveled around the world in 105 days, and in '16 walked 2,000 mi. from the Polish/Ukraine border to Santiago, Spain). In 2018, it's off to Rome, walking from Innsbruck.
