Kyle's Story

Life I've completely lost touch with everyone from our class except Owen Ayre, who I just happened to reconnect with a few years back. I would like to know how everybody is doing. This site is pretty lame with their holding everybody's info ransom. Here is a quick summary of where I've been since June 1986. I went off to spend one semester at RIT as an electrical engineering student. I quit RIT and signed on at SUNY Oneonta as a music industry major...I love music. After about three years, I switched over to physics, because I decided I wanted to design speakers...then math, because those were my favorite courses. onths in Chad (central Africa), but then went home after catching malaria. After that, I went out to Flagstaff, AZ (a beautiful town) and got a masters degree in mathematics from Northern Arizona University. I think this takes us to about 1996. I then moved to Amherst, MA and started in a PhD program in mathematics. I finished in 2001 and moved to NYC to start a three-year postdoctoral position at NYU. I met my wife, Aki, at a dance class in Greenwich Village in September, 2002. We were married the following year, and we moved to Tokyo in June, 2004. Our son, Kota, was born in August, 2004. At this point, I am working at the University of Tokyo, but I am trying to find something more permanent.
