LESTER's Story
I joined the USAF in March 8 1954, I was stationed at Sampson AFB for three months. I went to Cheyenne Wyoming for three months to tech school. On Sept 30 1954 I went to Prestwick, Scotland for three years and three months. I got married on June 29, 1956 in Scotland. I got my discharge in New Jersey. I went back in the USAF in June 1958 and went to Mather AFB and lived there for 6 years. My wife and I had three boys and a girl. I went to Libya, North Africa for eighteen months. I had different jobs in the Air Force. I went to Del Rio, Texas for 6 months.
Then I went to Shepherd AFB for 7 years. This is where I finally got my discharge from the USAF. After This term I went into Civil Service for13 yrs. Back in time, my wife Annie passed away from many medical probl...Expand for more
ems. She was 61 yrs. old. I waited for 6 1/2 years before I remarried. I met a great lady at my church, and I knew right away I loved her and wanted to marry her. She was widowed also. We married 18 days after we met. What a whirlwind that was! It's still a whirlwind! We've been married now going 16 years. The honeymoon ain't over by far----!
She has 5 children, 8 grandchildren, many step children and step-grandchildren. Hers and mine together add up to 10 children, 18 grandchildren and about 8 or 10 greats.
It is a fiasco when we all get together.
She graduated from York High School in 1960. Her name was Joyce Manning.
I miss my classmates but I found some of you at the class reunions. It is always great to get together and share stories. God bless each one of you.
