LInda's Story
I was terribly shy in high school, but have long since gotten over that. I received my BA in Early Childhood education in 1972 at Salisbury State College (SU), but instead of teaching, I had a family (a son and a daughter) and eventually went to work in the family business where I was comptroller and systems advisor. My brother Gary Brown took over my shares in the business when I stopped to write full time as a novelist.
I wrote sixteen historical romances for Kensington/Zebra Publishing in NY and then switched to the inspirational fiction genre, where I have written contemporary romantic comedies for Harper Collins/Avon Inspire and Random House/Multnomah publishers. and David C. Cook. I credit Mr. Clinton and my history teachers for my preference in writing history, letting real history do the writing for me.
If only Mrs. Smullen could see me now<G>. I fear I exasperated that poor lady no end. I certainly had no writing aspirations back then. I just wanted to pass her class and move on. Ironically I never did teach.
I did play guitar/keyboard and sing lead and harmony in a country/old Rock and Roll band called Homespun for ten years. Another of life's surprises. I married the other lead singer and, sadly, am now widowed. Did I say I got over my shyness?
I've been blessed to travel, being addicted to cruises to sunny places. Ireland was my favorite place, although Hawaii was beautiful beyond description. Must be my Irish heritage overruling the rest.
