LaJune's Story
Life
If you were to look at the class of 1978 pictures and compare them to now, you would do a double take. I was plainer than Jane. >smile< I was married for a very short period. I am blessed with 3 beautiful daughters, son-in-law, 3 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. They are my loves.
I will be 50 soon and have finally met a man to my equal. Sometimes it takes moving out of a comfort zone (Wichita) to met that perfect one. Life/soulmate.
I dable a little in the real estate investments in Wichita. Bad choices in business partners and renters hurt the cash flow.
I took up the game of golf in 2004 -played only short games; love it. On my downtimes and when the weather is good, I will head over to the driving ranges to practice my shots and putts. So far slicing is to a minimum. :-)
For those of you whose memories may be better than mine, from high school, I was the nerd, shy, the "quiet as a mouse," with my nose to the books. I only say nerd because I wore glasses, no makeup and nothing outstanding in the clothes category. I was a very conservative person and have reverted back to keeping the look classy and classic. Most of clothes I wore, were created from patterns and sewing. I don't think I owned a pair of pants or jeans until College.
When at Friends University, I tried out for cheerleader, JV, and made it. As a sophomore I made the varsity squad and had to quit the squad (Cheerleading camp) because of low funds. Since JV squad required no camp, that's what I chose to continue as; a JV Cheerleader. I had such a fantastic time. I saw what I did as an accomplishment. Mind you, I was that "quiet as a mouse, nerdy gal"...Expand for more
in high school. I went through a phenomenal change.
Say a quick hi if you're ever on my page or look me up on facebook.
College:
I am so close to completing a Bach of Science in Human Services. It has only taken 30 years to get there. :-) January 2013.
"For every minute you are angry, you lose sixty seconds of happiness." I do not remember who authored this inspirational thought, but I certainly do concur. This saying holds so true to our daily life. There are many times in our life we are confronted with angry people we do not choose to have cross our paths. We do have the choice to not let their anger get the best of us. For more than 75% of the time, you will see a true, inviting smile on my face. On a daily basis, I read an inspirational quote for the day emailed to me from Beliefnet.com.
After a 22 year's hiatus from college, I had decided to go back to school, enrolling in only 6 credit hours of happy courses (easy courses) at Wichita State University. In the spring of 2003, I enrolled in 15 credit hours at WSU and 3 credit hours at Butler County CC. (What a load!) Doing so gave me the opportunity to get my feet wet at my own pace. I chose WSU as my parent university.
I am a Toastmasters member. Our brains are put to the test by learning the word of the day, then incorporating that word in a sentence if and when we're called upon. Sometimes, we will extricate parts of our language to suit our own selves and or culture. Toastmasters are a solid reminder of using content correctly and getting rid of the ÃÂumsÃÂ and ÃÂahsÃÂ and the ÃÂyou know.ÃÂ You meet people from diversified backgrounds
