Lana's Story

I was born in Alice and at the age of 3 we moved to Victoria. Our family were among the first families to form Our Lady of Victory Parish. As you may know the school was started before the church was built. I was in the first 1st grade class at Our Lady of Victory School. The Church was not complete in time for 1st Communion in May, 1957 so we made our Communion at Foster Air Force Base. At the end of 2nd grade my dad was transferred back to Alice where my parents have lived eversince. So I attended 3rd thru 8th grades at St. Elizabeth School, 9th at Dubose and graduated in 1969 from William Adams. Since then I have lived in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Houston, Alice and now for the past 17 years have lived in or around Calallen (on the outskirts of Corpus Christi) Currently I live in a country subdivision on 1 acre lots. t of being able to work from my home so I have the short commute of about 50 ft. No gas, no clothes, no people it's great. Just phones, computers and faxes. My only daughter lives about 15 min. away so we spend alot of time together. She has 2 children and a step son, who are very active in their school and sports activities and so am I. I have 2 step-sons and 3 step grandsons. As a whole family we enjoy hunting. You've seen Bambi the movie well the star is in my freezer. Along with lots of other things. My husband is general manager of a HVAC company in Alice and commutes daily. He was born in Utah, then lived in Houston before coming to Corpus. We try to fit a vacation in sometime between AC season and hunting season. Last year we went back to Utah so he could show me the home of his youth. That's some pretty country. I just don't care much for cold weather so the early fall was the right time of the year for me. Our dream vacation is Alaska. So that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
