Lani's Story
Update February 2014 - No longer a volunteer firefighter but did help a little on the mountain during the flood. I ended up sending my dogs down on a Chinook helicopter and riding my horses off the east side of the mountain. What a great adventure!! I'm back home now and trying to get things cleaned up and back to normal, i.e. painting. My main subject of late is the wild mustang whose plight has become one of my main focuses. I've been to observe them in the wild several times. I also do a trip to Jackson Hole every year to get material for painting. Gosh my life is hard!! :)
Update October 2011- No major adjustments other than I'm not a member of the Big Thompson Volunteer Fire Deapartment any longer. It just took up too much time and with the economy these days I have to focus on my painting. I'm taking a trip to my property up in NE Washington State this month and plan to set up teaching plein air painting workshops from there. It's beautiful and about a mile off the Columbia river and eight miles south of the Canadian border! Later!

ids ages 27 and 25. A boy and a girl respectively who live in Englewood. I spent most of my adult life living on a small ranch just outside of Morrison Colorado but moved in 2004 up to Drake, which is halfway between Loveland and Estes Park. Divorced in 1997, I am a fulltime artist painting animals (wildlife, birds, horses etc) some still lifes, landscapes and figures also. I have a studio down in Loveland. I love to travel and had the opportunity to take a painting trip with other artists to Scotland in the fall of 2006. I have two dogs and a horse that live with me on about two acres. I love to take my dogs up to the National Forest almost every morning. They run and I hike. I also enjoy running (just not in the forest) and working out at the gym in Loveland. I joined the Big Thompson Canyon Volunteer Fire Department last year. What a challenge! But also very rewarding. I'm only 5'4" so people look at me like I'm kidding! Oh well, I can do my part. Was bitten by a rattlesnake this summer while doing brush mitigation with the fire department along the river. It's been quite the experience! That's pretty much it. A wonderfully simple yet fulfilling life!!
