Lanny's Story
Let's see. Since 1975? Ever since 8th grade, when I played my keyboard for the talent show, I was smitten by the music bug. By the time 1975 had arrived,I had played in a few of the local clubs.(Burley Inn, 5th Amendment, the Ponderosa, and The Office in Paul). I don't think any of them exist any longer. After playing 3 years at the Office with a group named Mercedes, we headed out on the road. For the next several years we played most of the western states. From way north in little Havre Montana to way south in Yuma Arizona. From Las Vegas to Iowa and most points in between. I was fortunate as a side player to have had the opportunity to play for some pretty big names (at that time) like Liza Minelli, Hank Thompson, Bobby Bear, Faron Young, and the Hager Twins to name a few. As I look back on it, it was one of those 'I'd never trade it for the world, but I'd never do it again, LOL When I came back in the mid 80's, because of my extensive experience in the music industry, I went to work for Welch Music in Burley. I have been with the store for 22 years now. I'm in the Boise location as Gen. Mgr. I won't ever be rich in this industry, but I can honestly say that after 22 years, I love going to work every day. I still am very active in performing at least two or three weekends a month in the local club scene and teach a keyboard class for folks. I'm very easy going and always try to look at the bright sides of things. It just does no good to your soul to look at the bad sides. Anyway this is life so far.
