Lara's Story
Life
I,Lara Anne Acosta was born on July 21, 1969 in Torrance, California. Growing up, I lived in Westminster where, ultimately, I found my way to La Quinta High School as a member of the Class of 1987. I enjoyed being a member of La QuintaÃÂÃÂs choir, and have many memorable experiences. I have continued my education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas in the pursuit of a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. I currently carry a 3.90 GPA,(yes, I am a late bloomer) and expect to be finished within a couple years.
Outside of school, I center my life around my family, my faith, and the River. I have a mini-twin in the form of my 14-year-old daughter Kylee. She is the light of my life, and is following in her momÃÂÃÂs footsteps by excelling in choir. I also count among my blessings my husband, Robert, with whom I celebrated our 5 year anniversary this past April. My family is rounded out by my cat, Shakespeare, a 7-year-old tabby that takes care of the house while the rest of the family is away.

th and service. I am a member of the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Henderson, Nevada. I have served in many various positions for the Girl Scouts, getting to spend precious time with Kylee while watching her grow. Another area of service that I am passionately devoted is to awareness of the genocide in Darfur, a war-torn region of Sudan in Africa. I have spearheaded information campaigns at Missouri State University, West Plains, and have sought to inform my classmates in Nevada as well.
I still love spending time with family and friends on the Colorado River and Lake Mojave. The river has been a lifelong passion of mine, and remains one of my favorite vacation spots. However, if you ask me, any place with a large body of water is appealing.
Currently, I reside in Henderson, Nevada with my family. I also spent 3 years in West Plains, Missouri living with my family on an 80 acre farm, where I realized my childhood dream and became a horse owner and a chicken rancher. Well, it was more of a petting zoo, than a working farm.
