Lara's Story
After finishing college in 1993, I married Bruce. We lived in the Marshall area for about 9 years. Both our sons, Brant and Jared, were born in Marshall (1997 and 1999). In December 2001, we moved to St. Johns, MI, where we still reside. I am a full-time mom, a "professional volunteer" and a part-time guest teacher. I have tremendous respect for any mom who can work full time and still hold things together at home... because it's too much for me! working at home or at school, I enjoy doing volunteer work for St. Johns Public Schools (PTO and school board committees), the hospital auxiliary, the Cub Scouts, the Parent Advisory Committee (for special education)and the Foundation for Excellence (which provides grants for special projects that go above and beyond the regular school curriculum). I enjoy reading fiction when I get the chance, but most of my reading is non-fiction, related to raising a child with autism. In our leisure time, my family enjoys camping, boating and playing card and board games.
