Laraine's Story

Life I can't believe it's been 40 years since we graduated from Bushwick! 40 years since we "cut" and went to the Diner on Myrtle Ave, where 5 people would order 3 cokes and an order of fries and linger over them for 40 minutes. The owner of the diner actually signed my yearbook. He said I spent as much time there as in school! lol I saw Bushwick several months ago, for the first time in many years. I was surprised at how "good" it looked. Actually, it looked better than when we attended! It was a nostalgic journey - I wanted to see the house where I grew up - on Cedar St. I had plans of knocking on the door, because I really wanted to see the inside - the mahogany staircase railings, the tin ceiling in the kitchen, the beautiful plaster mouldings in every room. I didn't appreciate these as a child and I wanted to compare the reality to what my mind's eye remembered..... Apparently I was several years too late - the house is gone - only an empty lot remains. Maybe it's better that my memories remain intact.... I've not kept in touch with a lot of school ...Expand for more
friends, but those that I have remain very close to my heart - Cathy and Charlie Moschera, Ronnie Cancemi (till his death several years ago) and Judy La Vita, who "found" me last year. Our reconnection was more than wonderful. I've been married for 35 years, and have 2 fantastic daughters. Our younger daughter, Melissa, is getting married in Sept, and we've been happily planning it with her. My husband retired from the UN 2 years ago, and we downsized from the big, now-empty, colonial to a condo in Huntington Village. We also bought a house in Delray Beach Fl for use during winter. I worked on Wall St for years and in the 80's started my own telecommunications company. We were able to meet Billy Joel after doing the communications for him during his trip to Russia. I took Ronnie Cancemi with me to the private screening and party and we laughed like we did at 18.... 40 years is a lifetime, and I've often wondered what happened to everyone. Hopefully more people will be adding their bio's, so I'll be able to find out. I hope life has been good to all of you!
