Larry's Story
My Life
Hi, Fellow Trojans! Hope all is well with you! This bio has been updated as of March, 2016.
My first years after Catalina were spent in the hallowed halls of the U. of A,, where I received a BA and an MPA. Moved to Northern California in 1977, where I've been ever since. I reside in Granite Bay, which is a suburb of Sacramento, in a contemporary home designed and built for me and my family in 1988.
I worked for local government my entire career, both as a manager and as a consultant. I've been single since 2008, after a 31-year marriage. I retired from government in 2007 and have been enjoying a relaxed but active life ever since. Spend some of my time in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and other travel spots where photographic and outdoor opportunities abound. Had some fun and challenging outdoor adventures, such as hiking the Grand Canyon, taking a 5-day kayaking trip on Lake Powell, and hiking to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park.
I have two terrific sons, one in the world of tech and finance in San Francisco, and one completing a degree ...Expand for more
at Cal State University, Sacramento. Raising boys was a real roller-coaster ride, but my kids are the best thing about me.
I've done a fair amount of traveling the world -- Europe, Central & South America, and most of the States. My passions include amateur photography (I've been fortunate to win a few awards), hiking the Sierras, boating on Lake Tahoe, wine tasting, and cooking. In 2013 I did a 2-week solo rail trip from Vancouver, B.C. to Toronto, with stops in the Canadian Rockies. In 2014 I had a terrific 2-week solo adventure in Turkey.
My life, so far, has been full and rich with wonderful (and, yes, a few painful) experiences. I often reflect back on my days at CHS with warmth, humor, and gratitude for a terrific beginning to adulthood. Best of all, the friends and grads of the Class of 67 are still my most cherished and closest compatriots. Go Trojans!
If you didn't attend our 40-year reunion in 2007, you missed a great time! Hope to see you at our next one. In the meantime, drop me a line and let me know what you've been up to! I'm also on Facebook.
