Larry's Story
Life
After graduating college with a BA degree in Computer Science, I met my wife to be, Leslie (from Manhattan) in 1983. We moved back to The City and I began my career as a Software Engineer. I've been doing that ever since. We got married in 1988 outdoors on a mountain top in the Catskill mountains. We had our first child, Alex that same year. I know, but the wedding was planned before he pleasantly surprised us. About a year after my son was born, we moved to New Paltz, NY and lived there for about 6 years, where I had long commutes to the suburbs of NYC. Our daughter was born about 4 years after moving there. Finally I landed a consulting job with IBM in Kingston just 20 minutes north of where we lived. nd something else. Then I came across beautiful Amherst, MA and found that this is home. Unfortunatly, the company I worked for merged and moved to Princeton. I decided not to go to NJ and moved to the Boston area, working in an East Coast office for a company based near San Jose, CA. After three years of living in the Boston suburbs, we couldn't take it any more. We needed either a small town or big city. The in between is nowhere. We sucked it up and moved back to Amherst, where we live today. Amherst is the best kept secret anywhere. My company wanted to keep me on and set me up at home. I now work at home everyday. The only traffic I face is the dog on the way downstairs. We have 2 children, Alex (15) and Natalie (10). I guess I'm getting old, Alex started HS this year.
