Larry's Story
Life
Went into the Marine Corps summer of 1974 and stayed with them until the summer of 1985. Got married in December 1976 while stationed in North Carolina and was married for 27 years before divorcing in January 2004. I have a son Luke, now 30 and living in Florida. My daughter, Leandra, is 29, married and living in NC, where her mother went after the divorce.
After the Marines I fell into the construction business of rough framing carpentry. Worked mostly on large custom homes. Spent about 14 months in the Columbus, OH area and moved my family to Radcliff, KY. That is where my mom and dad ended up after my dad retired from the Army at Ft. Knox. I have been here in Kentucky since November of 1986.
February of 1987 I started college on my G.I. bill. Continued working construction during the day and going to class at night. Did that routine until my education benefits ran out at the end of 1989.

In January 2002 I joined the Army Reserve so as to finish out my military career. I now have 21 years and plan to stay with it until I am eligible for a retirement from that, when I reach age 60. Currently assigned to a unit that is involved in marksmanship training of small arms weapons. In 2006 I started making use of tuition assistance through the reserves and I'm just five classes away from having my BS in business administration.
Right now I am looking to retire from the fire dept in late 2011, if all goes well, and the whole world doesn't go to pot. Plan to then go to work for the federal government at FT Knox at the new Human Resources Center. We'll see.
I have remarried and am now a very happy and blessed man. My wife Rebecca is truly my soulmate, and that which completes me. I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father God has given me this chance to be in relationship with her. I am really excited about the future and the prospects that lay ahead for the two of us. It is an open road!
