Larry's Story
Life
After graduation I lived in Musk. for a while + was poor. I went to Respiratory Therapy school in Charleston SC then worked as a Therapist for 3 yrs at Butterworth Hosp. I lived in Holland where my girlfriend was living at the time. I moved to Atlanta in '90 to work in a children's hosp. I really love my job; working with kids is so rewarding. I've traveled alot. I lived and worked in Germany for 6 mo. with Moritz's family in Frankfurt (remember Moritz? He's a M.D. now). I've also done a few ongoing medical missions concerning pediatric cardiology in developing countries like El Salvador + (former soviet) Georgia. I fell in love with Georgia + spend as much time there as possible. My job here is seasonal (I work 8-9 months + get 3-4 off in the summer) so I am able to spend my summers over there in Tbilisi. can go on for hours. I worked for a yr in a hosp. in Abu Dhabi (near Saudi + Kuwait). And I travel often to Bangladesh to visit a young quadriplegic man whom I have unofficially adopted. His name is Mohammad Sarwar + he's like a son to me. I'm still a big, fat Apostolic Christian (no, it wasn't just a teen-age fad) + I'm pretty involved with (black) Gospel music. Although I wasn't much of a singer "back then" + more of a piano player, God has really moved me into a ministry of singing, including recording with Joy Norris + the Atlanta Youth Chorale. My main hobby is learning languages. I currently speak German, Dutch, Georgian, Spanish, French, Russian, Hindi and Arabic...but, to tell the truth, German is the only one I speak fluently, although my Georgian is getting better with time. I'm still single, but, after researching it for a year + recently buying a house, I am planning to make the big commitment + get a Rat Terrier very soon.
