I enlisted in the Regular Army (RA) in 1965. Basic Training at Ft. Polk, LA with AIT at Ft Ord, CA. In October '66 I went to Vietnam from Ft Benning, GA. with the rest of the main body of the 199Th Lt Infantry Brigade. After 3 weeks at sea (USMS Daniel Sultan) We arrived 9 Dec 1966 at Vung Tau on our way to our base camp at Long Binh. I rotated out of Vietnam in Nov 1967 en route to Ft Huachuca, AZ. Other stateside assignments included Fort Ord, CA. Fort Lewis WA, to Fort Gordon, GA., Ft Polk, LA., and St Louis, MO. Overseas tours included Korea, Panama, West Germany, Italy. I resided off post (local economy) while in Korea, Germany, Italy, and Panama. My best "fun" years were spent working as a broadcaster with Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS) in Panama (80-82) in Korea (84-85) and then ending in Vicenza, Italy (89-93).
