Larry's Story
Life
I am married and have been since 1969. My wife and I met in college in 1965. She is very special to me and we have a great life. We live in Beaumont, TX, and also have a home on a golf course at Lake Conroe where we spend weekends. We have two daughters. They graduated from Lamar University and Texas A&M. They are married and one has a child and another to be born April 2005. We enjoy our granddaughter very much although she lives in Austin, so we only see her about once a month. The other daughter and husband live in Dallas. One daughter is a RN and the other a Software Engineer. The son-in-laws are Banker a Civil Engineer. My son-in-laws are great guys. We have a blast playing golf togther. They bought me clubs Christmas 2004 and I have really enjoyed playing since. In fact that is all I want to do. I could play golf from daylight to dark. I am a lucky guy. As long as I stay healthy, I will be happy. Life is too short not to enjoy it.
School
Growing up in the Fairview area was wonderful. I really enjoyed going to school at Fairview. The most fun things were football and track, and hanging around with all the guys and gals, and acting crazy with Fr...Expand for more
ed, Spike, Cosby, Ronnie Jones, Fogie, Bush, Richard Jones. I cherish the friendships I had with many other classmates that I have not mentioned. Even though I moved before my senior year, the eleven years at Fairview were wonderful to me.
One more thing I just remembered, during my senior year in Texas, Spike came down and spent a week. The summer of 1965, Fred, Joe Bob and Wayne Berry came to Beaumont and we went to Houston and saw the Beatles.
College
I went to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, pledged Pi Kappa Alpha and partied too much. I got to see Fred Stone several times in Texas during my initial college experience. Fred came to a fraternity party at Lamar once and we also met in Austin for a Hog/Texas game where we partied with the SAE's and Pikes. I also met Fred in Hot Springs in 1966 and saw his band (Grandmother's Cookies) from UA. We drove back to Camden that night in the snow from Hot Springs. I don't know how we made it but we did. I really miss Fred. We stayed in touch until his death. His wife still stays in touch.
Many years later and much more mature (1977) I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Accounting.
