Larry's Story
Life...... Ok, a quick bio. Well I was born in Soldotna, on July 9, 1970. I attended Soldotna Elementary, Soldotna Jr. High and later SoHi. I moved to Bakersfield, CA in 1987(my junior year.) Graduated from North High (Bakersfield) in 1989. I met my wife cruising on Chester in Bakersfield on April 1, 1989 and we were later married in April of 1993. I started college at Devry in Pomona, CA (June 1993) and later graduated in June 1996 at which time I started working for Kawasaki Motors Corp, in Irvine CA, as a geek, errr computer programmer, and have been there ever since. I write business applications that move information (data) between the corporate mainframe computer and our websites.
I have two children; a daughter (Katelyn Kaye) that was born in 1998 and a son (Riley Thomas) born in 2000. Aug/2005 Update: I enjoy touring on a motorcycle with my brother (Ron). We rode to Soldotna AK in 2002 and Sturgis SD in 2004. We are planning a Maine to Florida East Coast ride sometime. I love motorcycles, watercraft, and quads.
I currently own a KLR 650 bike, V-Force 700 (quad), KX50 (kids bike), and a KSF50 (kids quad). Feb/2006 Update: My family enjoys watching me race my quad in the D37 Grand Prix series. The typical GP race course is made up of a Motocross section, a desert, and some paved roads. P.S. My 'then' photo is from a "trailer trash" party in October of 2003! Hehe
Jan/2007 Update: Well my kids have now raced in their first race too. Riley at 6 and Katelyn at 8 in a Peewee event.
Mar/2008 Update: Hmm, well no more racing, that is just a too much 'me' event. Instead we have been camping with the family. We have a ToyHauler (trailer with an area for quads & bikes) that we use at least once a month or so. We go out to Ocotillo Well...Expand for more
s, Glamis, Gordons Well, and Buttercup a lot during the 'season' (which is September thru May.... winter months as it is too hot during the summer months.) I'm still working at Kawasaki, now as a Sr Systems Analyst. Brenda is working at the school our kids attend. The kids are busy with soccer, baseball, girlscouts, and of course riding their quads. They each now have KFX90's.
School
Elementary school was fun. Running in the halls and getting swats was not :) Jr. High, I remember track and running the mile... yuck. High school, wow how everybody grew up and changed over the years.
College
Graduated from DeVry Pomona CA campus. Lots of driving in my college years. I would leave from Fullerton early Saturday morning (after closing a convenient store) around 1AM, and drive up to Bakersfield (about 140 miles). Stay up in Bakersfield for the weekend and then go back down to my apartment in Pomona on Sunday night. I shared that Pomona apartment with 3 other roommates. That was fun but sometimes difficult. Hmm... some bad roommates included, one guy with horrible foot odor, another guy that would take 2 HOUR LONG SHOWERS multiple times a day, another guy that must of been a vampire as he did not seem to sleep at night, another guy that was a part-time chef and liked to threaten us with his knife collection. But lots of fun too; filming our own skits (COPS in Pomona, spaghetti Kung-fu Westerns, rollerblading through Claremont and Cal Poly Tech campuses, going out to a night club in Hollywood called Control Factory on Monday nights, + much more!).
Workplace
Working for Kawasaki has been rewarding. Working on several projects has taken me to Canada, Nebraska, Texas, Nevada, Tennessee, California (San Diego and San Francisco), and Florida so far.
