Larry's Story
After graduating HS, I joined the Air Force. I trained in electronics and spent 4 years in service, with 3 of them being at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, TX.
In 1977 I left the Air Force and went to work as a field service tech for Sperry Univac, (now Unisys), where I have been ever since. I also married Linda this same year. We have 2 daughters, 27 & 24, and 4 grandchildren, 6, 5, 1, and 6 mo.
In the 31 years with Unisys, I've held many positions. in the early 90's I took a promotion to manage a unit supporting San Antonio and moved to New Braunfels. Two year later I took another promotion managing several units with my territory ranging from Waco in the north down to Corpus Christi and everything west of their. This required me to move back to the Austin area. Three years later I was asked to take over the rest of south Texas, but it would require a move to Houston. The kids we...Expand for more
re in HS and we didn't feel it was in their best interest to move at that time so I declined.
I took another postion designing processes which allowed me to remain in Austin.
Now that the kids are gone, Linda & I enjoy riding my Harley. Most of our rides are day trips, but we have taken a few long rides including spending 2 weeks traveling on the bike. (yes, two people can pack for 2 weeks in a duffle bag)
Lindas' parents live an hour from us. My mom, brother and sister all live an hour from us as well, so we stay connected with family. My oldest lives within 2 hours, so we get to spend time with her and her two daugthers. My youngest is married to a Marine and they current live in Hawaii, so we don't get to spend as much time with the other 2 grandkids as we'd like. We've gone to visit them 4 times in 4 years, with the most recent visit in April after our grandson was born.
