Larry's Story
44 years since graduation !!! Times does seem to fly by !!! I joined Classmates last year out of curiosity . I finally have time for some reflection in my life . God has blessed me in many ways .
I was looking at my yearbook and the people that i was priveleged to have known at a time when I thought school would go on forever . Boy , has that view changed !
AT any rate , a quick synopsis , of my past 44 years is as follows :
I joined the Marines right after graduation . ....4 years active duty , with a tour of duty in Viet Nam and then tours in the Mediterranean and in the Caribbean , including Panama . I worked for the state of Michigan for several years before deciding to attend college . I started out at Mott Community college and then attended Central Michigan University until I ran out of money .
I got married , started my own buisness , got divorced ---no children .
Worked with Meijer Inc. in their Loss Prevention Department until Agent Orange finally disabled me with a variety of medical conditions .....that was beginning in 2004 . I took an early retirement from Meijer and with my disability pay from the Veteran...Expand for more
s Administration and Social Security , I guess you might say , I'm exploring retired life !!!
I love to travel !!! My tour in the Marine Corps sent me all over the world and i developed my "gypsy blood" during that time . I recently found 3 buddies that I served with in the Marine Corps / |Viet Nam , and am renewing our "past 40 years" with them . My favorite mode of Transportation is my Harely . America has so much beautiful country to see ---that's part of my retirement plan !!
I am an outdoor person and like the country ...an occassional visit to the city , visiting certain museums is also a treat .
I try to remain active but some of my disabilites keep me from doing what my brain tells me that I should be able to do (my brain thinks I'm still in my 30's but my body is my "reality check") .
I would also like to know if anyone from the graduating class of 1964 or a few years either side of that might be planning or interested in planning a re-union of sorts in the near future . To all my former classmates , take care , God bless you , and ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT !!!!
