Larry's Story

Those of you that still know me from high school, knew that joined the Navy in 1963 and was stationed on several submarines as an Electronics Technician, working on the upper portion of Polaris missles, during my enlistment. After leaving the service in 1967, I came back to St Louis. I met my wife Mary, and we got married in 1968. we have 3 daughters, and are still married to each other. In 1975 I decided to go back to school and get a degree. Orginally I was going to get a BS in Nuclear Chemistry, and go for an advanced degree in Nuclear Physics. Well things didn't work that way. From the time I got married to the beginning of 1977 I had my own business in Florissant, repairing and installing 2 way radio equipment. So I was going to school and working my business at the same time. Well it would have worked out if there was more time in a day. In 1977 I shut down my business, sold my first home ( I made a $5000 profit in 4 years) took a job with a local company, as a field service tech, and they moved to Milford Ct. I bought a new house there...Expand for more
and after we moved in, the company I worked for closed. I found another job in 1 day. I went to work for Norden Systems ( the company that made the Norden bomb site during WWII) in Norwalk Ct. Thats when I went back to school and changed my major to a BSEE. After 2 years at Norden, I got an offer from Sperry Microwave in Clearwater Fl. two years later. They made me an offer I could not refuse. I was hired an a design engineer, and they paid all my cost to finish my BSEE degree, which I did, going to University of South Florida. in Tampa. With the exception of 2 years in Los Angles (1984 to 1986), and back to St Louis for 2 years, ( 1989 to 1991) I been in several areas in Florida. I been in Orlando for 19 years now. I would like to thank 2 teachers at Normandy HS, that perked my interest in Electronics. Miss Long, and Mr Deal. I know that there both passed away, but there spirit is istill alive. Without them I probably would have never got a BSEE degree, or the 3 pattens I have in my name, even thought the company's I worked for own them.
