Larry's Story
Fellow Lumberjacks,
Since squeaking through OHS by playing the drums in the School Band (thanks Mr. Walker), I went on to Wright State U and got a BS in Music Education. I then started working as the HS band director at Dayton Dunbar HS. Talk about a culture shock!!!!
I spent 32 years teaching music in Dayton before retiring at 52. I was married for 13 years, and just got full custody of our seven year old daughter, Emily. We reside in a little cottage in Kettering by Golden Nugget Pancake House.
I still am involved in the music world. For fun, I currently play the piano for the Hauer Swing Band and bass for the Sinclair College Gospel Choir.
But most of my time is spent ...Expand for more
just kicking back with my little princess at the local pool or neighborhood park. Enjoying life and writing my own happy ending.
Life has been interesting for me. I learned that: if you always take the high road and put God first in your life, you are going to end up pretty happy.
Since I remained near Oakwood, I pass by the OHS clock a few times a week. It is fun to see the current students and wonder just what life has in store for them.
As for me? Well, I love my life and the friends and education I received at OHS has had a lot to do with that.
LIFE ISN'T ABOUT WAITING FOR THE STORM TO PASS...
IT'S LEARNING HOW TO DANCE IN THE RAIN !
God Bless.
