Larry's Story

Hello, I am still in this world. I left Verdugo in a police car, with a gun point at my head at the front gate in my 1968 Eldo, while my buddy John Butts was telling me to step on the gas. I was released due to insignificance evidence for GTA. I've been with my girlfriend and wife for 32 years, Charlene Butcher and she is still my best friend. Yes her sister is Paula. I then went to the Marines, I refused orders, they booted me out for having a Bad Attitude with a honorable discharge. I worked for a machine shop for a year, had to take three buses to get there. I worked for Midas Muffler in North Hollywood for 2 years and became Asst. manager. I worked for Santa Monica Midas Muffler for 2 years. Then I became a Santa Monica Blue Bus Driver. I was the last Bus out of Downtown L.A., was that an adventure. I was taking Wing Chug a type of Kung Fu at that time. Boy, I had to take care of the passengers, specially the women, the black guys would harass them and I had to finish it. I left due to the voilence. Went back to Midas in W. L.A. for 2 years. Then open my own shop on La Cienega Bl., called Liberty Muffler and Brakes for 8 years. I am a Master Technician and had 6 men working for me. In July of 1989 the business made L.A. Magazine for being The Best and Most Trusted Mechanic in L.A. In 1993 during the L.A. riots three of my corners where being destroyed, I was handing out bullets to my men and told them to go home. Across the street 8 to 10 blacks where beating a guy on the ground and stealing his stereo's. I had my Mini 14 on them, they ran across the street ...Expand for more
towards me, lucky for them they ran down the sidewalk, if they would of gone in my driveway. I did dirt biking at Gorman, Mojave, Texas Canyon, had 400 Husky, 500 XR, 500 KX, sandrail, me and Jeremy Jover bought new 600XL's, I was one of the first to have a camera on my helmet, one of the first JVC's Anyway after the riots, during the summer, the smog and heat was killing me and my family. I sold my shop and moved to Oregon. My daughter Lauren and my son Brain were of age to go to school, had to get them out to not know fear. My son Brain of 20 has autism, my daughter 17 is fine. There both great. We have been in Oregon for 15 years now. I opened another shop up in a lumber town. The people here are great just don't tell them your from L.A. I hunt Elk, deer, bear, cougar, fish for salmon and steelhead. We snowski, waterski, wake broading and camp. It is very green here, lots of water, no smog, no gangs. I belong to a 4x4 club and dirt bike association, we do beach clean ups and fix trails. I raced dirt track for 5 years, built my own cars and won 9 trophies, crashed many times, and totaled twice, never been hurt. Are house burnt down in 2000, had no insurance. The community, Red Cross and our families helped us out. I've been told I have Leukemia, but I think the doctors are crazy. I feel great, they say it's the best one to have. We have no sales tax. I play Texas Hold'em and won 2 tournaments. Made the papers here for the family that work out together, stays together. Golds Gym. I can lift over my head 380 and bench 405. Well life is good. See you in the funny papers.
