it. Now back in Indianapolis, I work for the United States Army Reserve Command. I work as a military technician for my reserve unit. I like it. I enjoy the flexibility.
Military
I joined the Army Reserves during January of Senior Year. I left for Basic Training July of 1991. I attended basic training and AIT at Fort Jackson South Carolina. At first, I thought what the hell did I get into. I thought I was dreaming. Then as time progressed I realize that it was for real. I admit those first couple of weeks I cried all the time in my bunk. Also being from the Chicago area didn't help matters. The drill sergeant did not like anyone from Chicago, New York, or California. They would always crack jokes on us. This made the nine weeks of training even harder. After the first 4 weeks it became easier to me.
With the Reserves I have been to numerous installations and done alot of things. My most recent indevers took me to South Korea for a few weeks. That was very interesting. It was amazing to me to see another way of life and culture. I know now what it is like to be a foreigner in a different country, being able to read signs and menus. I enjoyed the shopping though.
It has been 18 years since I attended basic training. I can tell you that it changed my whole attitude.
