Latrina's Story

I attended Metro from 1988 - 1991. Shelby was my homeroom teacher, and I remember most of the people in my homeroom but I'm not sure if many people would remember me, I was kinda quiet and kept to myself. The teachers I would love to see again are Shelby, Judy Reed, Gloria Cornish, Craig I think he taught physics or something, and Sandy DeBartolo. I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were pretty disappointed that I didn't finish college. Instead my boyfriend and I got an apartment and was married 4 months later, this was in 1995, I was only 21. And to everyone's surprise, we are still happily married it'll be 15 yrs on Jan.1st, we have 5 children (4 girls & 1 boy). If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my church to support the outreach ministry. We bought the YMCA in Roseland (111th & State St.)and we offer a variety of FREE programs & activities for kids, adults & seniors: open gym, swimming, exercise room, after school programs to help kids with homework & keep them off the street. I'd spend the rest on investment or income property, CD's for my kids, I want to leave them more than my debt, some old furniture and trinkets to fight over and I'd like to buy my mom a ranch style home and send her on another cruise. Ok, changing the subject, Who was my first crush? Davey Hines!!! We went to a grade school in Bridgeport so we rode the school bus together. The first 6 weeks of high school I was in a cast from my ankle to my hip, imagine having crutches, hopping up what seemed to...Expand for more
be 6 flights of stairs trying to get to the 3rd fl before the next period started! One day as I was hopping up the stairs, thinking to myself how high school was getting off to a bad start, I happened to look up and there was Davey at the top of the stairs, he had the cutest smile on his face & he said "Trina, girl, what chew doing here?" You have to understand how I felt at that moment because I had no idea that Davey was going to Metro. I think floated around the school for the rest of the day, it had to be one of the happiest days of my life because I never forgot it. I saw him at Dominick's about 8 years ago, I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, he was married, had a son, and was a truck driver I was REALLY happy to see him, I hope my husband wasn't offended. My best friend would tell you I'm nice, patient, and generous , but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as mean and stuck up. My oldest & dearest friend is Krystal Copeland, some of you may know her, she went to Metro too. We met in grade school, people were so mean & cruel, they would always tease her about the way she looked. If you were one of the few people that dared to be her friend you found that she was the nicest, sweetest person you'd ever met. Krystal is now a registered nurse and lives in Memphis, TN. Although we still keep in touch, I miss her very much! What about me would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? For the few people that would remember me, I'd have to say it would be how much weight I've gained and how many kids I have.
