Laura's Story
Life
Well, let's see after High School (I didn't graduate) I did get my GED that same year because I felt so bad about myself not finishing and well, I did not want to go on the 5 year plan. If I could go back in time boy I would have changed a lot of things. Anyway, I moved back to Kentucky with my mom. That is where our family lives. I went to a two year college to get an associate degree in business. Mostly studied computers (the computers back then were something else e.g. so simple) not like the computers today. Anyway, my husband was just going into the Navy doing his basic in San Diego. He then traveled to the Great Lakes, New Jersey, and finally to Bremerton,WA where I came up there to start a life with him. The government then sent us to Hawaii for three years. Talk about a honeymoon. We didn't have kids yet and we got to enjoy ourselves. We went to all the islands. I even went to Molokai which is the friendly island and did a bike ride for the American Lung Association. It was a blast. I also worked in the retail grocery business which was fun I like people. Except for the time I got held up. That was very scary having a gun put in your face and hoping the guy isn't going to panick and accidently shoot. Well, then we got stationed in Everett, WA and I again got into retail grocery and even became a night manager. Then my daughter Sarah came along and the governm...Expand for more
ent again moved us to San Diego. We decided to move out to Temecula,CA which is 80 miles from San Diego and buy our first house.I became a stay-at-home mom and had my two other children in Temecula Katherine and Jennifer. We our now stationed in Bremerton,WA and live in a very nice neighborhood due to the outrageous real estate market in CA. My husband is a lifer in the Navy and yes he did go over there when the war first started. He didn't do too much except for he did have to board merchant ships to make sure they weren't smuggling any oil that was kind of scary. He might go back or he might go to Gitmo for an 18 month stay. Don't know. My political views on the war are I do believe Saddam had WMD's but he moved them to Syria or somewhere. I think we need to now get out because how can you fight an enemy that doesn't care about dying and the Iraqi's won't fight for it. I sometimes ponder on "How did Saddam kept his people in line?" The answer- He used terror and these people have never known what freedom is. They were born into a dictatorship and have no clue. Also woman had more rights under Saddam then they do now. Why??? I just want our military to come home and concentrate on our borders. So we don't get attacked like London. I hope everybody is where they wanted to be when they were just young 17 year olds. Anybody that wants to e-mail me about anything don't hesitate.
