Laura's Story
Life
Hey everyone (or anyone)!
This is Laura and I just got an email from an old friend from here so I thought I would update this thing!
I made the move from twelve years in San Diego to Portland, Oregon just this summer (2006). I am really enjoying the amazing lifestyle of city living! I have a really-stinking-cool apartment in the Northwest area of downtown and am in walking distance of EVERYTHING! It is such a needed change from beach living!
If you all didn't know, my life has been a mish-mash of experiences. I have lived all over the country--From Tahoe to Florida, before I decided to go back to school. I took six years to "find myself" and sometimes I think I am still lost--don't we all! I am currently a high school English teacher and really enjoy what I do!
I have also experienced signifcant loss in my life. Many of you know my brother Scott. If you haven't heard, I am sorry to say that he is no longer with us. ...Expand for more
He died in an on the job accident as a commercial diver when he was 31 and newly married. It has taken me many years to get back into the water, but I have taken up ocean swimming and tried my hand at sea kayaking! Many you as well knew my mother. She had a very difficult time with life and moved on to a better place, where I am sure she is no longer stuck in her wheelchair. On the upside my sister Michele is living in San Pedro with her husband of one year and their new little puppy "Piggles" the bulldog. My father is doing O.K. and remarried to a friend of the family.
Latest news: Michele and her husband are expecting their first child, so I am going to leave the EXTREME cold and wet of the Northwest and settle in Long Beach to be a close auntie! I am very excited and so is she!!
Hope all is well with all of you!
