Laura's Story
Life
I have been married 27 years this year, have two boys: Stuart 19 and Josh 17. Stu became engaged to Becky Meyers from Jennings County near Thanksgiving 2008 and they plan to marry in about 2 years. We live in Greenwood (Center Grove) with our rescued greyhound, Peaches. Our first greyhound, Ryder, passed recently at the ripe old age of 12. My career has been in the field of Quality Engineering and I owned a related business in Southport, Precision Measurement Services, Inc. I recently closed the business after 6 years and am now involved a hobby career in Long Arm Quilting which is much more fun! I work full time for Endress + Hauser here in Greenwood. I have been very active in my church, serving on several committees and holding positions such as Deacon, Sunday School Secretary and Musician--I play my flute every third Sunday. (Yes! I still play!)
Since losing my parents (Mom died in Nov '02 of Bulbar ALS--a sister to Lou Gehrig's Disease--and my Dad to Cancer in Apr '03), I found myself wanting to reconnect with old friends. Going through all of the condolence cards they received made me realize how ma...Expand for more
ny old friends I had lost touch with.
I had wanted to come to the 25th reunion, but somehow I never received the info--common problem for me. If you have the inclination, email me.
School
After graduating from PHS in '77, I started at Purdue in the school of Chemical Engineering. I had a bad bout with pneumonia my Freshman year and had to move dorms from McCutcheon to Windsor, but despite the setback I was fortunate to graduate in 4 years and find a job immediately upon graduation. My favorite "course" in college was a summer internship at Kimberley-Clark where I developed a new process to make elastic legs for Huggies diapers. (That happened to be my only true Chem E job, although my education came into play throughout my career!) My favorite college memory is my last final exam sitting next to Brian Puckett--someone I had been in school with with since 1st grade at Brentwood Elem. To top that event off, we took that exam in a Vonnegut designed building (as in Kurt V's father!).
I didn't get to go Greek, but made many lifetime friends with other independent students. I just wish that I could go back more often.
