Laurelie's Story
Life
I am living in Arizona with my husband Max, after spending 25 years as an air force wife. We have been married since 1961. After retirement from the air force, we came to my husband's home town, where he went to work for the City of Phoenix. He has now retired, and we have been traveling a lot. I have taken painting classes for many years, currently in watercolor. I also have a booth in an antiques mall. Shopping at estate and yard sales in this retirement area is great fun. Our daughter and two granddaughters live just a few miles from us, so we have great times together.

Workplace
After working for the State of California, I married and became a wife and mother. I worked at volunteer jobs wherever we lived, starting in the 1960s. I had a part-time job as church secretary from 1978-82 in a small town in Illinois. In Mesa, Arizona, I worked for a crisis stabilization unit doing medical transcription from 1990-94. I have a booth in an antiques mall in Scottsdale, which keeps me busy buying, researching, pricing and setting up. I also have sold a few of my watercolor paintings through a show at the Mesa Arts Center. That is fun work!
