Lauren's Story
Life
My Spouse
He was my roommate's cousin. He had recently moved from Chicago to Sacramento, and was staying with his sister while he looked for work. He started coming over to our apartment every evening, and I remember thinking, "Wow, this guy is really attached to his cousin!" It wasn't until later that I realized he wanted to see me.
My Pets
I've had both cats and dogs most of my life, but right now our only pet is a female chihuahua named "Daisy." She's a surprisingly smart dog, and I find myself wondering how she can fit so much intelligence ...Expand for more

My Kids
I have an eight-year-old son. He's very interested in science, and wants to be a scientist and inventor. He especially wants to invent things that will reduce pollution or prevent crime.
My Job
I work in the California Department of Parks and Recreation's Human Rights Office. I do discrimination complaint investigations, advise managers and supervisors on sticky issues, and do training on things like sexual harassment prevention, cultural diversity, and conflict resolution. It's lots of work, and lots of fun.
