Lauri's Story
Life
I've had such an amazing life and career since little 'ol Claremont. I guess I was just itching to get out of a small town and explore/conquer the world. I'm sure most of you will remember that I was more into friends, partying, and dance/cheerleading back in H.S. than studying...if only I knew then what I know now, right? I was always smart, just never applied myself in H.S.
After Claremont, I went to Santa Barbara City College for a year to get my grades where they needed to be to attend a top University. I then went on to UC Berkeley and graduated in 1995 with honors. UC Berkeley was a blast! I was also in a sorority (Delta Gamma), played on the Volleyball Team and was Captain of the CAL Dance Team.
My first job out of college was with the world's largest Consulting Firm, Arthur Anderson, in San Francisco. I loved the international travel that came with this job...what an experience! I then went on to be hired by their competitor, KPMG, in New York as Executive Director of Business Development (I became the youngest executive ever hired by the firm). I loved everything about New York...the energy, the restaurants, nightlife, people, and having the best of everything right at your fingertips. It also made for quick travel to Europe, which I explored on many different trips with friends and/or boyfriends.
It was in New York that I was discovered by the Casting Director for the Daytime Soap, "All My Children." ...With ZERO acting experience, I found myself with a 5 episode contract, an agent, and an enormous amount of new opportunities that followed. I packed...Expand for more
up and moved back to CA (Los Angeles) to ride the wave that unexpectedly presented itself to me. I was in a few films, including "American Pie 2", "A.I." with Steven Spielberg and several commercials from Visa to Colgate...oh, and most embarrassing - "Blind Date." (UGH!)
When the wave ended, I went back to what I knew best - business (since acting was never a passion of mine). I started my own Consultative Marketing Firm and took on clients like PricewaterhouseCoopers and Morgan Stanley. In 2003, I became engaged to a Doctor, which got me excited about changing careers and exploring medicine. I was hired by a division of Johnson & Johnson (Ethicon), in Orange County, CA, as a Clinical Representative. I love this! I am in Surgery every day consulting Surgeons how to use various surgical products from mesh for hernia repair to a hemostatic device that clamps on the aorta during coronary artery bypass surgery. It still blows my mind that I get to do this for a living! You can't even begin to imagine some of the things I have seen in surgery...it is so amazing! Let's see, I also called off my engagement to the Doctor last year...great guy, just a little dull for my taste. I am single again and loving life, my career, and all of the interesting/intelligent people that I get to meet every day.
I look forward to our 20 year reunion (can you imagine?), since I was too busy at the time to make the 10 year reunion. Hope everyone in our class is happy and healthy! Lauri Whitescarver

I didn't have a crush on anyone at our H.S. I was more attracted to, and dated, college guys.
