Laurie's Story
I recently joined the Daughters of the American Revolution based upon my father' s mother' s Belcher line. He was born in England in 1606 and arrived in Braintree, Massachusetts in 1637.
In 1666 he built a home that still stands and is incredibly a national historic landmark in the Adams National Park. Generations of Belchers lived 75 feet from President John Adams father and generations after. John Adams was born in the Adams home.
The Belcher and Adams families served together in town councils. In 1741 the Adams family acquired the Belcher home but the Belchers remained in the home until John Adams married Abigail. John Quicy Adams was born in the Belcher house. Thus the importance of the Belcher home.
Also recently learned that an entire collection of the Adams family papers exists at the Massachusetts Historical Society completely digitized and searchable. Found many references to the Belcher family who were important in working with or for Abigail in the common situation for long periods when John was gone. John also mentions that a wife of our Deacon Moses Belcher was noted in his autobiography as one of John's teachers. Very interesting finds....

Great weekend kayaking 18 miles down the Colorado River through Topak Gorge. Beautiful place, unspoiled, no road access. Great activity. Highly recommended.
I have a DNA project for my dad (YDNA). He was asked to join a group - FGC22501 a SNP or signature on that identifies family lines in the DNA connected with a Roman Empire Era individual unearthed in York England recently. We had to do some additional tests, but found out we are related to this person! Wish my dad were alive to share this. He would love it.
Look up National Geographic.com/2016/01/160119-gladiator-headless-skeletons-dna/
There were DNA tests done on 7 of 82 individuals found in a cemetery next to a recently unearthed Roman town in York. Most were decapitated and between the ages of 20 or so and 45 or so. There is a diagram of my specific individual area: Driffield 6 #22. These 7 were of particular interest because they were buried with horses heads.
They are still speculating about the cemetery and the limitation of males only in that age group. They are likely part of an army, criminals or part the gladiator spectical that was built throughout Europe with over 200 arenas found.
