Laurie (Laurel)'s Story
As for high school, I was the quiet girl in drama and tall flags (band) who was, I think, only known for being a dancer on American Bandstand. (And not even a good one--they didn't care if you just stood there and snapped your fingers...if you wore a short skirt!) At least that's what everyone seemed to remember of me at the last reunion.
I went to my two reunions, and I think I remembered three people! No, I hadn't been using substances in high school, but the good friends I hung out with are all MIA. Does anyone know Heather Kershaw, Chessay White, Darrell Robinson, The Huerta siblings, or Ivan Gogh who played Danny and co-directed our production of Grease in '82? Me neither, not anymore anyway. I miss those guys!
BTW, if you happened to see me or my photo from the 20 year reunion, know that was just after having a baby at the ripe old age of 37, which wreaks havoc on a figure at any age....
I have lost the weight now, and I am divorced. So things are looking up! I have a wonderful 18 year old boy who has started college, and if that doesn't make a person feel old I don't know what will! But I also have an energetic six year old boy who keeps me young.

chool that a lot of people don't know...hmm.... I have no major victories of which to speak, I was never in the Olympics or anything! But in 1996 I did win a national contest which brought me a lot of attention, which I felt was completely undeserved. I always said, "It's not like I won a Nobel Prize." It was just a bus from the movie 'Speed'. It was several weeks of insanity, as though it were big news. I was getting calls from all over the country at all hours requesting interviews, and one producer actually thought it would make a good movie, if you can believe that! There were some fun things about it though, like the marriage proposals from men in prison...hehe! But with the crazies and pranksters calling and writng me, I also met one of my current best friends through it. She contacted me asking permission to take photos of my bus because she loves Keanu Reeves. Later she invited me to go dancing with her, and all these years later we're still close! Oh yeah, I used the national publicity to hold a silent auction, and I eventually sold the bus to Planet Hollywood in Florida.
Hope you'll drop me a line and jog my high school memories! (Geez, enough about me--tell me about you now!)
