Laurie's Story
Well, upon graduation, I married and had two kids...a son in 1981 and a daughter in 1983. After working various jobs, getting divorced and remarried, moving around the state some, I finally went back to college and got my bachelor's degree in Agricultural Education and shortly afterward, obtained my high school teaching credential. I taught high school agriculture in Fresno for 7 years, then moved over to the high desert community of Lone Pine and taught both high school agriculture and elementary school. In the summer of 2007, I relocated to the bay area. I now live in Alameda and work for the University of California Office of the President in Oakland, in Special Research Projects. Yeah, a desk job after years of working outside with animals, kids, and plants! I miss teaching high school and working outside on the farm, but I also enjoy my current job and living in the city.
I like to spend my weekends outside as much as possible. I enjoy working with my horses, walking around the city, dining out, and spending time with my kids.
