Laurie's Story
Hi everyone. Wow has it been 30 years already?! Seems life is going by faster as I get older. I met my husband Scott here in PA and stayed. We must be lucky because we're still having fun together :-) I have two stepchildren Kristyn and Christopher and have leapfrogged to grandparenthood with 2 grandsons born last fall! I lost my Mom in 1992 to a sudden illness but the rest of my family is well.
My career has been very exciting in finance-CPA, MBA, etc... It took me to Calif. and back to PA. Worked for Coopers & Lybrand in NYC and then for Penske for many years. Was VP Finance, M&A 'stuff', built/opened the CA Speedway and drove a NASCAR 80 laps at 160+mph! I'm presently the CFO of Strategic Analysis Inc. We specialize in global competitive intelligence. I'm very fortunate to have landed this position with an international firm headquartered right here in West Lawn, PA. I've traveled to our offices in Belgium, China and India and always manage a side trip or two. Fascinating. My career has been very important to me and fulfilling as well since I never had children of my own.
I also do volunteer work as a PA Certified ...Expand for more
Master Gardener by Penn State and last fall I walked 60 miles for a fundraiser for Breast Cancer. I did OK but my tootsies suffered.
I'm having a wonderful life!! (But the 80's were kind of tough for me.) We travel a lot...the world is very beautiful; trouble is making time to stop long enough to enjoy it. We're very active & I still get crazy, without the beer. Still the beach parties were the best! Staying in shape has gotten tougher since turning 40. I remember my gymnastics days when it was so easy. We recently moved from the golf course life to the 'country'. We love the more natural lifestyle! Our Jacuzzi is now in the woods - much more private. I do miss LI though, especially the water. It takes a while to get to the beach now.
Well, I hope all are doing well. Guess I still talk too much! Missed the last reunion but am looking forward to the next. Please drop me a note...and write a profile! I love hearing about where your journey has taken you. (I left out my lows. We've all had some and it's more fun to share the highs anyway.) As our yearbook said "What a long strange trip it's been" and still is!
Peace
