Laurie's Story
Life
Married for 29 years this July 24, 2011. Have 2 girls and 3 grandkids. Too bad my girls are Panthers, not Eagles. Our older daughter, Jennifer, lost her job at Diversey and now is going to school. Our other daughter, Jessica, is a LPN and works at Ridgewood. She wants to be a RN, not sure when she'll have time with 3 little ones. Still playing sports, all though I have eliminated softball due to injuries, but added the old folks game.......GOLF!, learned to bowl left handed, maintaining a 162 avg lefty versus 175 righty, not too bad.
School
Dean Pettit was probably my favorite teacher. Even though I never had him, he was always there for you and let you believe you could do anything to make a difference. I think he was right. I would probably do high school again only if I could take the knowledge I have gained now, with me. My friends made school a happy place to go to everyday. I wish I could see some of them once in a while....seems like a lot of people like to leave this town, I wonder why.....?? Just going to football games, basketball, volleyball was a blast. ut my biggest crush because there were too many guys I would have liked to go out with to see the true them, even though I saw alot just being their friend.
Workplace
It's funny to think how little we made in the early '80's versus today. My first job I made a whopping $4.25 and a whole $4.65 when I left; man, that hardly paid for daycare for 2. I left that job to do piece work, which paid me about $350 a week, unfortunately he moved his business to IN. Cheaper to own and run a business there. Then moving to Racine Unified, I worked with the CDS students, didn't make too much there, but the accomplishments the kids made made it all worth it. Tom's job was eliminated, so I switched to cleaning the schools, pretty good money there. I am now a building engineer at Goodland, can make a decent living with that job. I'm looking to hopefully move to a high school, I love the action at night with all the different sports going on....we do get to peek in on whatevers going on. Tom is working with Farmer Brothers Coffee, previously known as Superior Coffee. I'm not so sure he likes his job, but it pays the bills. Anyone looking for an old man with 20+ yrs management and about 15yrs in slaes???
