Prior to establishing his consulting business business, Lawrence spent 11 years as a corporate technical training Director of Programs for FlightSafety International (a Berkshire Hathaway Company) supporting Gulfstream Aerospace (a General Dynamics Company). Lawrence Staab offers a wide range of program development and operational support services – from managing technically specialized project teams, to developing consortiums for designing “Green” renewable energy projects and collecting/analyzing data on industrial residual waste streams to achieve cost reduction and/or re-use for renewable energy (Co-Generation of Process Heat and Power). After a successful City of Pittsburgh mayoral government staff and University of Pittsburgh career in training, public information, research and development, Lawrence teamed up and created a business with Claude Galipeault in waste reduction management and bio-energy technologies. “Fiber Fuel International” (FFI) was incorporated in 1990. The Southern Company (one of the world’s largest energy production holding companies) hired FFI to produce test fiber fuel (biomass) and coordinate a consortium of companies to construct full scale conversion of Savannah Electric’s 50 mega watt coal fired power plant to efficiently co-fire both coal and biomass at levels reducing coal emissions by 40% - 50%. This successful project has been described as the industries most successful co-firing conversion by the Standard Handbook of Power Plant Engineering, McGraw Hill, 1997. The success also led Galipeault and Staab to co-inventors of Methods of Co-Firing & Energy Generation: US Patent 5, 609, 113, and International Patent PCTl2243. Lawrence is no stranger to “Green” technology having participated in the original Earth Day in 1970 in a cooperative air pollution reduction program with the Hershey Chocolate factory. He led a student science team to monitor and collect air emission data for Hershey Foods and the EPA. He holds a Masters Degree in Educational Communications & Technol¬ogy with a BA in Communications & Psychology, both from the Univ. of Pitts¬burgh. Lawrence earned an Executive Management Certificate, Carnegie Mellon University and ISO-9000 Quality Management Certificate, FAA Instructor Development certification, TMS and Customer Service Training from FlightSafety International. He has received over 35 national awards for development and production. Lawrence Staab served as president and on the board of directors of several international trade associations. He has been a speaker for United States, Canada, Sweden, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Denmark Renewable Energy conferences.".
