Lawrence's Story
After high school I graduated from RVC, Carthage College and Valparaiso University School of Law. Was named Who's Who at each institution, served as Senior Class president at Carthage. Have practiced law for 38 years and was a lay youth minister for 18 years. Vietnam era Marine Corps veteran. Married in 1982 to Sharlene and have 3 children Laurel, Jessica and Tyler and 3 grandsons Jacob, Ethan and A.J.. The love of my life Sharlene went to her heavenly home on August 29,2015.. As to law, I began as a staff attorney with Winnebago County Legal Aid, then became a prosecutor for the Winnebago County State's Attorneys office ending as felony prosecutor. cretarial. At this time I have had cases in the appellate and supreme courts of Illinois and 3 before the US Supreme Court. I also was elected to 3 terms on the Winnebago County Board and am the vice chairman of the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee. Its been a blessed life and my 31 years with Sharlene was a gift from God. I reside with my son in Roscoe, Illinois. Spare time now spent watching my grandson play soccer(I was an Illinois certified, Class D, coach for 20 years), reading and speaking before legal education groups. Community involvement from chairing the Rockford-Ferentino Italian Sister City committee to being Santa for Rockton to deep involvement in my church does not fill the emptiness until I will see Shar again but it does consume time and keeps me off the streets.
