Lawrence's Story

I didn't join the choir in high school, but I've sung all over the country since then - and been paid for doing so!!! Several opportunities to do this for a living have been presented to me, but I never had the courage to try it. Professional accounting has been my "crutch" for many years. Oh, by the way, I went by the name "Larry" in school. I always wanted to be a major league ballplayer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a feasible idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. I usually workout by running and lifting wieghts to "blow off steam." The wildest thing I ever did in school was try to leave on a day that it snowed heavily. A teacher tried to stop me and ripped the belt off my jacket in the process. Well, I spent the rest of the day in Ms. Mechtersheimer's office. My hero was my dad, Arthur Bell. He did some amazing things in his life and always included us in them. Since high school, I've only lived in one other state - Texas. I moved here via a job offer in 1985. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Riley Chavers, because he was my most dependable best friend. If I have any obsessions, they're church and sports. ies compared to my contemparies. I, however, believe it's because of my relationship to God. My biggest surprise in life is living in the Dallas area. I had planned to move to another big "D" - Denver. I would love to see Mrs. Walsh again. She actually wound up teaching the year after my graduation at the same college I started at. I'd also like to see Ms. Henry. If I won $100 million, I'd give $95 million of it to various charities, then spend the rest on my family, church and close friends. My first crush was Cherry Watson and I don't know where she is or waht she's doing. If I could have one "do-over" in life it would be to pursue my singing career with all the strength i could muster. My first job was at a small newspaper, where I got paid $10 per week to keep the place clean. What I remember most about it is the other guys would attack me whenever the boss left. So, I quit even though the owner begged me to tell him why. So now, I've been in accounting for more than 30 years and I still enjoy it - although music is my first love. I've sung around the country from Portland, Oregon to Miami, Florida and from Los Angeles, California to Cleveland, Ohio. And I've been paid to do it. That's all for now.
