Lee's Story
Hey guys! I'm still here in McAllen. After graduation, I started my 4 years of study at Pan American University. Early in my freshman year of college, I met the love of my life, Mary Philquist. She was a freshman in high school. You can imagine how her father felt about that! I graduated from Pan American University in 1975, with a degree in Accounting. Mary and I got married in November of 1976. I worked as a cost-accountant for one of the plants in Reynosa for 10 years. In 1986 I became a trust officer with the old Texas Commerce Bank. I was there for 3 years, then to McAllen National Bank for 7 years, Texas State Bank for 12 years, and in August of 2008 (after the Compass Bank merger), I joined the best bank in Texas - Frost Bank. may remember I was a musician. I was a percussionist in band, but I've also been playing guitar since the 4th grade. I played in a little rock and roll band in Junior High (in the mid-60's), when we lived in Mercedes. I played in another band all through college - Woody's Truck Stop. In that band I played both guitar and pedal steel guitar. I now play pedal steel guitar in two bands (Wild Wood and RiverRock) in the McAllen/Edinburg area. I also play the acoustic guitar every Sunday morning at St. John's Episcopal Church. We have a contemporary service at 9am. Come join us.
I would love to hear from my old classmates. That includes you guys from Mercedes (I went to Travis Elementary the second half of 6th grade and Mercedes Junior High) and my old friends from San Benito, where I attended high school my freshman year.
