Lee's Story
Left Colfax in 1994, lived in Sacramento for 2 years working construction. Got tired of not really doing anything and enlisted into the Active Army in 96. Spent 6 1/2 years at Fort Hood, Texas, deploying to places like Bosnia and South Korea. Left Active Duty and joined the Texas Guard in 2002 hoping to get some school done and simply stay home more, but nope. From Oct 02 until Dec 05 I spent a total of 9 months at home. I spent all of 2005 in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom III.
Rewind a bit to 1999. I had attended Army Dive School, the hardest in the Army, but had broken my foot with a few weeks to go. I was sent back to Hood to mend my foot and get back to Dive School. During my down time I me...Expand for more
t Evelyn at the pool (her Dad is stationed at Fort Hood to this day). We talked for about 2 weeks and had to part ways because she lived in Ohio. We wrote for about 18 months but lost contact as most young long distance 'relationships' do.
Fast Forward back to 2005, when I was in Iraq. I never stopped thinking about her, and wrote her a letter. A week later she contacted me back. I spent my 2 weeks R&R with her and decided to move to Ohio upon the end of my tour, which I did. The main photo is of the day I came home.
I proposed in 2006 and we were married in September 2007. Our first child, Aeson, was born in May of 2008!
I am still in the US Army, now a full-time Guardsman (AGR) for the Ohio Guard.
