CLASS OF 1962
Corpus christi, TX

Lee's Story

I was a bus driver for many yrs. I taught school bus drivers and did the driving exams before being forced by illness to retire. It broke my heart as I loved my work. I lived in Denver for 30 yrs. and then moved to Pecos, N. M. I live in the mtns. and enjoy my birds, squirrels and chipmunks. I had a ram and an elk along with a fox visit so far from the forest behind me. I drink my morning coffee while enjoying a waterfall from the Pecos River. I have a great husband. I still visit with 2 of my high school girlfriends. We take a 3 day respite every year in LV, Nv. I am hoping to hear from several friends from our class. I remember so many fun faces and times. School was a blast! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Bill Darby, because we were such good friends. I have 3 children and 2 step sons. I have 7 grand children and 3 great grandchildren. I wish my body was as young as my mind! I would like to see Mr. Love, Algebra 1, again. He was a big help to me as it was a difficult subject. If I won $100 million, I'd give equal parts of it to all my kids, then spend the rest on buying each of them a home, a new car for me, travel wor...Expand for more
ldwide, and save for old age. As a bus driver, we had bus rodeos every year. My first year as a driver, I participated and won a trophy. That was what prompted me to become an instructor. I loved knowing that I created safe drivers. My oldest friend is Diane. She lives in Ca. now and she is the one I meet with every yr. in LV, Nv. We have always been able to share everything and we still like each other in spite of it. My first job was for a VW dealer. I got paid $80. a week to do bookkeeping and cashier. What I remember most about that job is that I got hired because the owner liked the way I fed his fish in his aquarium. Also, my desk was set up with an adding machine that I had to learn to use right handed. I am left handed. It was quite a challenge, but I still can't use a calculator with my left hand! I will never forget in high school that Diane and I went to the drive in movie with my mom's car. I spilled my drink on the steering wheel. I did clean it up, but it shorted out the horn wires and for a week the horn honked every time my mom made a left or right turn. I NEVER did tell her that it was me. I hope my classmates remember me as fun and fair.
