Lee's Story
Hi fellow erieites. Newest news,, I am leaving on 18 Feb 2013 for Kandahar Afghanistan,, I am on a 90 t0 120 day tasfek for a surge team,,, this is my last harah , getting to old for this stuff but I want to serve my country one more time, back to my story:::I left high School and joined the Army. Went to Vietnam as a medic. Ended up working with the Hmong in laos supplying them with needed supplies and training. During this time I made some interesting contacts and went to work for one of our agencys in another part of the government. . Worked for the Us. Government for many years in different Parts of the world mostly working out of our different embassies..... married a Wisconsin girl and choose to leave the Government service when My first child was due. Came back to Erie and retrained at G. E as a Machinist and ended up moving to Green Bay Wisconsin. Wwent back to school and got my Five year state of Wisconsin Journeyman Tool and Die maker card and later went to college and get my automated manufacturing systems degree.. oungest is 21 and in his second year of college. All of my other children have there college degree's and have nice families and good careers. I am the proud grandparent of four Grandchildren. Went back to work for the Government and currently work for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and I will be deploying to Afghanistan early next year. I will deploy as a Department of the Army civilian and will be working in Quality Assurance and looking to get the Haliburtins and there associated business to complay with there contracts............ I like working for the Corps of Engineers and get the chance to deploy to disasters and maks a difference. .. Was at byrds point Missouri two years ago loading explosives to Blow up a Levi on the Mississippi River to we could divert water to farmfields and lower the river to save a number of touns in Illinois , kentucky and Missouri..........
I have deployed to other disasters both nationally and overseas and find this quite rewrding even though it is very hard duty.
