LeeAnn's Story
Life
You can see me on Myspace -- look up squidworld6x.
I was born in Montana, lived in Orange County, CA, Provo, UT and Tucson, AZ. Since high school I've lived in San Francisco, served as a Spanish-speaking missionary for my church in Washington DC, received humanities/language-related degrees from BYU and NYU, spent a year in Madrid, lived 5 1/2 years in NYC and finally found a husband who'd actually put up with me, at age 33.
We lived in the LA area (Burbank) from 2004-2005 where we had a baby boy born in Feb 2005. We then moved to Utah early 2006, where we had another baby boy on July 18, 2007. We may be on our way back to LA by fall 2009 for George's career...
Health
I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure Dec 2007 so life is hard right now. We hope that I continue to improve with medications. It's hard to rest when you have a 1 year old and a 3 year old!
School
Anyone else been to as many different schools as I have? Ah, to always be the new, weird kid...
Mr. Nielson at Farrer was the best teacher ever (Spanish).
Mr. Paul Hoffman at CDO was also fun, but why did we spend so much time on Lizzie Borden???
Mr. Seidl (sp?) at CDO was too cool for anyone, so we kinda worshipped him.
College
College for me was a continued escape from reality, from the work world. I loved to study art and literature, but was obsessed with music more than anything -- Britpop, psychedelia, etc. I worked at CD stores for fun and took road trips to see concerts.
I somehow still graduated with honors and got decent grades, but f...Expand for more
eel like I didn't learn or retain much. But yes, I did have a lot of fun.
Workplace
Right after high school I was emotionally burned out, had mono for a few months, then went to various local community colleges in AZ and CA. I basically spent most of my time waitressing, buying music, going to concerts and being boy crazy until getting somewhat serious at around 32.
I spent a year and a half as a Spanish-speaking Mormon missionary in DC. I then went to BYU and graduated with honors in European Studies/Spanish, then continued on with a Masters program in Madrid through NYU. I spent most of that time enjoying the art and architecture (and dance clubs) of Spain while still managing to avoid real life.
I then became a responsible working adult in NYC and worked as an executive assistant at Bear Stearns and a couple other places.
I currently spend all my time with our little boys and plan to improve my homemaking skills and eventually get back into creative hobbies like painting and writing. I'm still way into music and love to find great new Britpop/Indie bands. I spend too much time blogging at Townhall.com at Squiddy's Sane World. And I'm also on Facebook and Myspace.
Military
I admire those with the strength and selflessness to actually fight to defend the liberties and freedoms of others. I'm proud to have a brother with two sons serving in Iraq.
I'm too attached to comfort to handle the rigors of the military (let alone the rigors of motherhood!) to have served, but maybe I can at least raise good, brave children.
